'CARNATIC VOCAL TALENT SEARCH'

This is for the Vocal category & for the title
'GAYIKA YUVA BHARATI'
in the age group of 13 and 21, one who can comply with a full length carnatic music concert format of today.
The teachers of the final 3 winners will be recognized also.

• We have started Counting down to Carnatic Talent Search title 'GAYIKA YUVA BHARATI'. All aspiring performers are welcome for Category 1.
• The winner gets to perform at the prestigious CARNATICA sponsored event/s of Sri. Shashikiran during THIS SEASON.
• This will be an auditioning test for all those wishing to perform at the Chennai Music Season.
• We invite participation from Individuals and groups of different schools and teachers. The best group will win the price.
• Any combination of DEVI kritis - just plain singing or with manodharma will be assessed in two different categories

Category 1 - The major Concert category and for the Title - Gayika Yuva Bharati.

• The Contestant has to participate in Category 2 & 3 also. It's mandatory.
• The Format given already to you to prepare for a 40 minute presentation will include the 2 Kritis from Category 2 and 1 Kriti from Category 3 as mentioned above.
• The organizer to provide accompanists.

Category 2 - Navaratri Devi Kritis:

• Participant has to choose any 2 kritis from the Group Kritis - Navavarna Kritis of Dikshitar or Swarajatis of Shyama Sastri or Navaratri Kritis of Swati Tirunal or Navarna kritis of Oothukadu Venkata Kavi

Category 3 - General Devi Kritis -

• Participant to choose a Devi Kriti of any other composer (other than Category 2)

Category 4 - Group Singing - 6 minutes max

• This is for the adults and/or children from diff music teachers to come and sing as a group.
• 1 Devi Kriti of any composer.
• The best performing Group will win the prize

Category 5 - Kids under 9 to imitate a composer or an artist - 3 minutes

• This will be like a Fancy dress competition for kids and will add color to the whole thing.
• The best presenter will get the prize

Category 6 - Multi Media Presentation of a Composer or a Musician of their choice - 5 minutes Age Group 10-16.

General Info:

• In all categories the judges decision will be final. They can choose to ask the participants in Category 1 to sing a full kriti or part thereof or a Niraval or Kalpana swaras or an alapana of a raga or a tanam or a Pallavi based on the contestant's preparation and talent.
• The participants from out of state will be provided accommodation if required
• Those who are participating in Chicago competition can take part on Oct 3rd here in SVBF
• The 3 winners from Preliminaries will give a concert each on Oct 9th Saturday and the Final winner will be chosen from the performance of the individual concert.
• If the 3 winners have to fly in to perform SVBF will bear the flight charges for the Contestants only.

The Vocal and Instrumental/Dance Categories will be held alternatively each year so that the participant gets 2 years to prepare & participate
